Job Summary

The role of an Outpatient Therapist involves providing therapeutic services to clients in an outpatient setting. This position requires extensive knowledge of various therapeutic techniques and the ability to apply them effectively to support clients in managing their mental health conditions. As an Outpatient Therapist, you will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide individual, group, or family therapy sessions. This role is pivotal in empowering clients to lead healthier and more fulfilled lives.

Outpatient Therapist Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients
  • Develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
  • Provide crisis intervention when needed
  • Participate in case conferences and team meetings
  • Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions and treatments
  • Stay updated with current best practices in therapy and mental health care

Outpatient Therapist Qualifications & Skills

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA), Marriage and Family Therapy or equivalent
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic techniques
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Bilingual capabilities (recommended, but not required)
  • Previous experience in outpatient or community mental health settings
  • Appropriate state licensure or certification
  • Clinical experience in mental health counseling
  • Strong understanding of mental health disorders and treatment modalities
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Empathy and strong ethical standards
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

  • NC Professional or Provisional License
  • North Carolina’s Driver’s License
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Health Care Registry Check
  • CPR/First Aid Certification

Pay: $58,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
