Emotional Wellness Counseling Center is a specialized, virtual private practice serving clients throughout Virginia. The practice is dedicated to providing trauma-informed, affirming, and consent-based care, with a distinct mission to support individuals and communities that often feel marginalized or misunderstood by traditional mental health systems. Specialty areas include LGBTQIA+ populations, neurodivergence-affirming therapy, EMDR, and disability/chronic illness work.
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Resident in Counseling to join our team as a W2 employee. This position is ideal for a clinician passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community and treating trauma-related conditions.
As a Resident in this practice, you will receive robust support for your licensure journey, including paid supervision and a structure that compensates you for both clinical hours and administrative time.
Compensation & Benefits
- Clinical Rate: $45.00 per hour (client sessions)
- Administrative Rate: $13.00 per hour (documentation, staff meetings, case management)
- Supervision: 2 hours of clinical supervision are included and paid per week. (No out-of-pocket cost to the Resident).
- Employment Status: W2 Employee (taxes withheld).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual counseling sessions to a diverse caseload.
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment plans) in accordance with practice and state standards.
- Attend weekly individual and/or group supervision meetings.
- Engage in case consultation and ongoing professional development.
- Maintain continuing education to satisfy board requirements
Qualifications
Required
- Education: Master’s Degree in Counseling or a related field.
- Licensure: Must be eligible for or currently registered as a Resident in Counseling with the Virginia Board of Counseling
- Clinical Experience:
- Demonstrated experience and competency in working with LGBTQIA+ populations (providing gender-affirming and sexually diverse care).
- Experience diagnosing and treating PTSD and other trauma-related conditions.
Preferred
- Experience or strong interest in working with neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism) from a neurodiversity-affirming framework.
- Experience working with clients navigating chronic illness or disability.
