Psychotherapist / Psychologist — Personality Disorders & Complex Trauma
The Kimberly Center for Personality Development and Integrated Healing
About the role
The Kimberly Center NYC, a specialty psychotherapy practice in Greenwich Village, is seeking a thoughtful and clinically sophisticated part-time psychologist or psychotherapist to join our growing treatment team.
We specialize in the treatment of personality disorders, complex trauma, dissociation, self-harm, chronic relational difficulties, and other complex clinical presentations. We provide individual, group, family, and intensive outpatient treatment to adults and young adults who often require a more intensive and coordinated approach than traditional once-weekly psychotherapy.
Our clinical approach is integrative and relationship-focused, drawing particularly from Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT), Schema Therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and contemporary approaches to trauma treatment.
We are looking for a clinician who is genuinely interested in working with complex patients and who wants to deepen their expertise in the treatment of personality pathology and trauma.
OUR TREATMENT MODEL
A central feature of The Kimberly Center is our treatment-team approach.
Many of our patients receive multiple components of treatment, which may include individual psychotherapy, group therapy, family work, psychiatric care, and intensive outpatient services. Clinicians collaborate closely around treatment planning, clinical developments, risk management, and the therapeutic process.
We therefore seek someone who values collaboration and is interested not simply in maintaining an independent caseload, but in becoming an active member of a clinical team.
THE POSITION
This is a part-time, fee-for-service position with the opportunity to develop a substantial caseload and expand the role over time.
Compensation is based on collected clinical fees at a 40% clinician / 60% practice split, with no guaranteed minimum. Actual earnings depend on caseload volume and collected fees.
The Kimberly Center provides referrals, administrative support, clinical supervision and consultation, and opportunities to participate in the broader clinical life of the practice.
Responsibilities may include:
- Providing individual psychotherapy to adults and young adults with personality disorders, complex trauma, dissociation, self-harm, and related difficulties
- Working collaboratively with other Kimberly Center clinicians as part of an integrated treatment team
- Treating patients participating in our intensive outpatient programming
- Providing psychotherapy more than once weekly when clinically indicated
- Leading or co-leading psychotherapy and/or skills groups
- Participating in treatment planning and clinical consultation
- Collaborating around risk assessment and management when clinically necessary
- Maintaining timely and concise clinical documentation
- Managing your clinical schedule in coordination with administrative staff
- Developing a growing caseload within the practice
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must:
- Hold an appropriate New York State professional license or limited permit to provide psychotherapy
- Have meaningful clinical experience treating trauma, personality disorders, or other complex clinical presentations
- Be comfortable working with patients experiencing affective instability, interpersonal conflict, treatment ruptures, self-harm, and suicidality
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and an interest in intensive psychotherapy
- Be psychologically minded and interested in understanding personality structure, relational patterns, and the therapeutic relationship
- Be comfortable discussing clinical process and countertransference in supervision and consultation
- Be interested in working collaboratively within a treatment-team model
- Be organized, reliable, independent, and collegial
- Be available to provide at least some in-person treatment at our Greenwich Village office
