Psychotherapist
Mind in Motion psychological services
About the role
About Us
Mind in Motion Psychological Services is a group practice serving racially and culturally diverse communities across New York State. We're growing our Albany presence and looking for a clinician who wants to build an in-person caseload with us.
We're clinician-run. That means the people making decisions here still carry a caseload, still sit in supervision, and still care about the quality of the work over the volume of it.
What Makes This Different
- Referrals come to you. We handle intake, matching, and scheduling. You don't market yourself.
- We handle billing and credentialing. Insurance verification, claims, and follow-up are ours, not yours.
- Real supervision and consultation. Weekly group consultation and individual supervision are available — including hours toward licensure for permit-level clinicians.
- Training you'd otherwise pay for. Ongoing in-house training in psychodynamic practice, trauma, and culturally responsive care.
- You keep your own practice style. We'll build the caseload around your clinical interests and the populations you want to work with.
The Role
This is a fee-for-service independent contractor position based out of our Albany office (12205).
We are specifically seeking a clinician who can hold in-person hours at our Albany office at least two days per week. Remaining sessions may be conducted via telehealth. Applicants seeking a fully remote position will not be a fit for this opening.
Caseload: 5–20 client sessions per week, built up over time at a pace that works for you. Hours: Evening and weekend availability strongly preferred — that's where our Albany demand is.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual psychotherapy using evidence-based and psychodynamic approaches
- Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA
- Coordinate care with prescribers, schools, and other providers as clinically indicated
- Participate in case consultation and ongoing professional development
Qualifications
Required
- Current New York State license or limited permit in one of the following: LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LMSW, or licensed Psychologist (Ph.D./Psy.D.). Limited permit holders and clinicians accruing hours toward independent licensure are welcome to apply — supervision is provided.
- Demonstrated skill and genuine interest in working with culturally and racially diverse clients
- Reliable in-person availability at our Albany office
- Ability to work independently and manage your own clinical decision-making
Preferred
- Bilingual proficiency in any language
- Experience with couples, family, or group modalities
- Existing insurance panel credentialing
Compensation
Fee-for-service: $40.00 – $90.00 per completed session, based on license level, credentialing status, and payer mix. You are paid on collected revenue; no productivity quotas and no penalty for client no-shows outside your control.
Additional
- Flexible schedule — you set your own availability
- Professional development assistance and free in-house training
- Supervision toward licensure at no cost to permit-level clinicians
To Apply
Send your CV and a brief note about the populations and clinical work you're drawn to. We respond to every applicant.
