Overview

Assess and treat individuals, families and children with mental, emotional, or substance abuse problems, including abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and/or other drugs. Activities may include individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, client advocacy, prevention, and education. To be the face of NewDay Center to local resources, hospitals, and other sources.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Counsel or average 5-35 clients weekly based on employment status.

• Counsel clients in outpatient program and assist them in dealing with substance abuse, mental and physical illness, poverty, unemployment, or physical abuse.

• Perform 3-5 comprehensive assessments for mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, domestic violence and medical needs per week.

• Provide Individual, couples, children and family therapy as needed for clients seeking treatment.

• Collaborate with counselors, physicians, and nurses to plan and coordinate treatment, drawing on social work experience and patient needs.

• Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals.

• Provide early interventions and referrals to specialty mental health services, including referral for more intensive psychological or psychiatric support services, if needed.

• Refer patient, client, or family to community resources for housing or treatment to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness, following through to ensure service efficacy.

• Learn and lead groups based on NewDay’s curriculum and beliefs.

• Attend clinical meetings and weekly supervision.

• Other duties assigned by supervisor.
