About the role

Safe Harbor Behavioral Care is seeking Virginia-licensed LPCs, LCSWs, and LMFTs to provide high-quality behavioral health services as Independent Contractors (1099).
We’re looking for fully licensed clinicians who value meaningful clinical work, professional independence, flexibility, and the support of an established behavioral health practice.
We also welcome strong Virginia Residents in Counseling and Supervisees in Social Work who are actively progressing toward independent licensure, meet our clinical standards, and are committed to their professional development. Free clinical supervision is available for qualifying pre-licensed clinicians.

Job Details
- Position Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
- Location: Northern Virginia, with opportunities at multiple Virginia locations
- Work Setting: Hybrid, including in-person and virtual appointments
- Compensation: $55–$70 per completed clinical session
- Typical Clinical Availability: Many clinicians make approximately 12–15 client service hours per week available
- Client Population: Children age 5+, adolescents, adults, and families based on clinical experience, client needs, and clinical fit
- Evening Availability: Appointments beginning after 4:00 PM
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide individual, family, and/or other clinically appropriate psychotherapy services within your professional scope
- Conduct clinical assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans
- Complete required clinical documentation in a timely manner
- Establish strong therapeutic relationships with clients and families
- Exercise sound clinical judgment and maintain professional and ethical standards
- Collaborate with other providers and professionals when clinically appropriate
- Participate in peer consultation and clinical collaboration as appropriate
Qualifications
We are actively seeking independently licensed Virginia clinicians, including:
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
We will also consider strong Virginia clinicians who are actively progressing toward independent licensure:
- Resident in Counseling
- Supervisee in Social Work
Qualifying Residents in Counseling and Supervisees in Social Work receive free clinical supervision.
Additional Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related mental health field
- Clinical experience with children, adolescents, adults, and/or families preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and commitment to ethical, high-quality care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Professionalism, reliability, and commitment to client care
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55.00 - $70.00 per hour
