Licensed Therapist, LMFT, LCSW or LPCC

Licensed Therapist, LMFT, LCSW or LPCC; (First Responder and Family Counseling)

Institutes of Health is seeking a licensed LMFT, LCSW or LPCC to provide confidential, trauma informed counseling through our First Responder Institute Confidential Counseling Program.

This role is ideal for an experienced clinician with a strong background or interest in couples and relationship therapy. You will provide individual, family and couples counseling to first responders, public safety professionals, retirees, spouses, partners, children and adolescents.

Flexible scheduling is available, including evening and weekend opportunities.

What You Will Do

• Provide individual, family and couples psychotherapy, clinical assessments and crisis intervention
• Support first responders, public safety professionals and their family members
• Deliver couples and relationship therapy using approaches such as the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy
• Provide developmentally appropriate services to children and adolescents as part of family care
• Apply evidence based trauma treatments, including EMDR, CPT, Prolonged
• Exposure, TF CBT, DBT, ACT and Motivational Interviewing, as clinically appropriate
• Develop treatment plans based on each client’s clinical needs
• Provide education to clients and families regarding trauma, mental health, coping skills and treatment expectations
• Coordinate care with employee assistance programs, peer support teams, referring agencies and community providers when appropriate
• Maintain timely, accurate and confidential clinical documentation
• Participate in consultation, continuing education and organizational training

Required Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted California license as an LMFT, LCSW or LPCC
• Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy or a closely related field
• Training and proficiency in evidence based approaches for trauma related conditions
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning skills
• Knowledge of trauma informed care, PTSD treatment protocols and crisis intervention
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all clinical and administrative matters
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems
• Ability to provide telehealth or in clinic services to clients throughout North San Diego County
• Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification before starting

Preferred Qualifications

We are especially interested in clinicians with experience or advanced training in:

• A minimum of two years of post licensure clinical experience is preferred.
• Couples and relationship therapy
• The Gottman Method or Emotionally Focused Therapy
• Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD
• EMDR, CPT, Prolonged Exposure or TF CBT
• First responder and public safety populations
• Critical Incident Stress Management
• Employee assistance programs
• Substance use and co occurring conditions
• ASAM criteria and harm reduction approaches
