Therapy Group of Charlotte is hiring a full-time therapist for our South End office.

We do long-term psychotherapy with people who are ready to do it. That's the common thread across our practice: not a single orientation, but a shared belief that the deepest change happens over time, in a sustained relationship, with someone who can hold complexity.

Our clinicians work from a range of traditions: psychodynamic, relational, humanistic, CBT, ACT, family systems, trauma-focused, EFT, and more.

The Role

Full-time, in-person at our South End office. A caseload of 25 sessions per week, with room to carry more if you want to. Primarily individual therapy, with couples work in the mix if you're trained for it. Schedule is weekdays, no weekends. New hires typically cover three evenings a week to build a caseload, with evening coverage relaxing once the caseload is established.

What the work actually looks like

Your clients tend to be motivated, psychologically aware adults, mostly working professionals, who take therapy seriously and stay in it. The practice handles referrals, billing, admin, and marketing. Those are the parts of this profession that have gotten harder, not easier. Your job is the clinical work.

Compensation and Benefits

W-2 employee, with compensation tied to completed sessions. Your income tracks your clinical hours and your mix of individual and couples work.

At a full 25-session caseload, clinicians here earn $110,000 to $140,000 per year. Couples-trained clinicians land at the higher end of that range. Caseloads typically take about six months to fill, and we'll walk you through what the ramp-up looks like, month by month, in our first conversation. No surprises.

Who we're looking for

• Independently licensed in North Carolina as an LCSW, LCMHC, or LMFT. (LCSWA, LCMHCA, and LMFTA are associate-level licenses that require supervision, so they don't fit this role. But if that's where you are, we'd genuinely like to hear from you once you're fully licensed.)
• A year or more of independent licensure, with real experience doing long-term individual therapy with adults
• A developing clinical identity: a sense of how you work, why you work that way, and how to hold the frame of ongoing work
• Real experience with LGBTQ+ clients and a committed stance on affirming care
• Skilled at working across difference, and thoughtful about how identity and context shape the clinical work
• Couples training is a meaningful plus, not a requirement

A word about what this isn't

Most clinicians spend at least a few years assuming they'll eventually open their own practice. We get it. Most of us thought the same thing. But a lot of us also realized, somewhere along the way, that running a practice isn't what we fell in love with.

If you want the autonomy of solo, go for it. It's the right call for many people who want to own a practice or thrive in the business of running one. But if you've started to wonder whether going solo is what you actually want, or just what you think you're supposed to want, this might be worth a conversation. We all ended up here on purpose.
