About the role

Therapist (Full-Time)

Location: Tucson, AZ (hybrid in-person and telehealth)

Desert Lotus Counseling is a small, values-driven group practice in Tucson, AZ, specializing in trauma-informed care for young adults and college students. We’re looking for a compassionate, motivated therapist to join our growing team.

Since 2018, Desert Lotus Counseling has supported the Tucson community with inclusive, affirming, and evidence-based mental health care. Our team is passionate about creating a supportive environment for both clients and clinicians — one that emphasizes collaboration, authenticity, and professional growth.

About the Role

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about working with young adults navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, identity exploration, or life transitions. Experience with the LGBTQIA+ community and a social justice–oriented approach to therapy are highly valued.

We are seeking a full-time therapist who can ideally offer some evening and/or weekend availability to best meet the needs of our clients. You’ll provide individual therapy, maintain thorough documentation, and collaborate with a supportive team that values flexibility and balance. We offer both in-person and telehealth sessions, and we assist with referrals to help you build and maintain a steady caseload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation of client progress and outcomes
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation
  • Refer clients to outside specialists or community resources when appropriate
  • Attend team meetings and engage in ongoing professional development
  • Participate in marketing or outreach efforts as needed
  • Offer therapy in person and via telehealth

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation
  • Medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits
  • Flexible schedule and hybrid options
  • A steady stream of client referrals
  • Paid supervision for associate-level licensees (with a board registered LPC supervisor)
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment
  • Opportunities for continuing education and professional growth

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field
  • Current, unrestricted Arizona license (LAC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LAMFT, or LMFT)
  • Minimum commitment of 23 billable hours per week (approx. 90 hours/month)
  • Experience working with young adults and the LGBTQIA+ community
  • Strong clinical and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches
  • Comfort with electronic health records and telehealth platforms
  • Independently-licensed clinicians already credentialed with Aetna or UHC are a plus

About You

You’re someone who:

  • Connects easily with young adults and college students
  • Values inclusivity, authenticity, and social justice in your work
  • Works well independently while enjoying being part of a supportive team
  • Is curious, self-reflective, and passionate about continued growth as a clinician
  • Is open to providing therapy during evening and/or weekend hours
