Employment Status: Full-Time, W-2 Employee, at-will

Hours: Monday through Thursday 8am to 5pm with an hour lunch 12pm-1pm

Friday 8a-12p

Position Summary

The Licensed Therapist provides outpatient behavioral health services through assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults. The therapist collaborates with psychiatric providers and other members of the treatment team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state laws, payer requirements, professional standards, and Anchor Psychiatry policies.

Essential Job Functions

Direct Patient Care

• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments.
• Develop, implement, and periodically update/modify individualized treatment plans.
• Provide evidence-based individual psychotherapy.
• Provide family, couples, or group therapy when clinically appropriate.
• Assess suicide risk, homicide risk, abuse, neglect, and other safety concerns and implement appropriate interventions.
• Develop safety plans and refer to crisis intervention when clinically indicated.

Clinical Collaboration

• Collaborate regularly with psychiatric providers regarding diagnosis, treatment planning, medication response, and patient progress.
• Participate in interdisciplinary case consultation as requested.
• Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, schools, hospitals, and community agencies as authorized.
• Promote continuity of care through effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals, following HIPPA guidelines for all communication.

Documentation & Compliance

• Complete all clinical documentation accurately and within established practice timeframes.
• Maintain complete and current treatment plans and clinical records within the electronic health record.
• Document medical necessity in accordance with payer requirements.
• Complete required documentation which may include disability paperwork, FMLA forms, court requests, and coordination of care
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Tennessee licensing regulations, Medicare, commercial insurance requirements, and practice policies.

Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain an active Tennessee professional license in good standing.
• Complete all required continuing education and mandatory training.
• Maintain competency in evidence-based behavioral health practices.
• Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to applicable ethical standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings.
• Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and respectful communication with patients, families, coworkers, and referral sources.

Qualifications

Required

• Master's degree in Counseling or a closely related counseling field from an accredited institution meeting Tennessee licensure requirements.

• Hold a current, active, unrestricted Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselor –

Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) license in good standing.

• Eligible to independently assess, diagnose, and provide outpatient psychotherapy within the scope of Tennessee law.

• Possess an active Type 1 National Provider Identifier (NPI).

Eligible for credentialing and participation with Medicare and commercial insurance plans.

• Maintain current professional liability (malpractice) insurance meeting Anchor

• Psychiatry's minimum coverage requirements.

Successfully pass a criminal background check and all required exclusion screenings.

• Successfully pass a urine drug screen.

• Demonstrate proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health practice.

• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA, Tennessee confidentiality laws, and all applicable federal and state regulations.

• Required Credentials (Must Be Maintained Throughout Employment)

• The therapist is responsible for maintaining the following throughout employment:

• Active, unrestricted Tennessee LPC-MHSP license.

• Active Type 1 National Provider Identifier (NPI).

• Current professional liability insurance.

• Eligibility to participate with Medicare and contracted commercial insurance plans.

• Compliance with all continuing education requirements established by the Tennessee Board.

• Compliance with all federal and state laws governing the independent practice of professional counseling.

• Immediate notification to Anchor Psychiatry of any investigation, disciplinary action, sanction, restriction, suspension, or change in licensure status.

Documentation Required Prior to Employment

Prior to providing patient care, the therapist must provide

Copy of current Tennessee LPC-MHSP license.

Government-issued photo identification.

Current curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé.

Copy of master's degree diploma.

Professional liability insurance certificate.

National Provider Identifier (NPI) confirmation.

CAQH Provider ID and authorization to access the profile (if applicable).

Documentation necessary for insurance credentialing.

Completed I-9 and employment forms.

Successful criminal background check.

Negative OIG and SAM exclusion screening.

Signed confidentiality agreement.

Signed HIPAA acknowledgment.

Signed compliance policies.

Signed employment agreement.

Preferred

• Experience providing outpatient psychotherapy.
• Experience treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, personality disorders, ADHD, and severe mental illness.
• Training or certification in evidence-based modalities such as:
• EMDR
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
• Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
• Internal Family Systems (IFS)
• Trauma-informed care
• Experience working collaboratively with psychiatric medication providers.
• Experience documenting for Medicare and commercial insurance.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

• Sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
• Operate computers and standard office equipment.
• Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically.
• Occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment

The Licensed Therapist works primarily in a professional outpatient behavioral health clinic. Duties are performed in a private clinical office with frequent interaction with patients, families, providers, and administrative staff.
