JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Licensed Professional Counselor
Part-Time, Approximately 20 hours/week
Non-Exempt, schedule negotiable
Pay range: $24 - $26 depending on experience
Strength In Peers, a 501c3 peer-run, nonprofit organization, seeks a qualified individual to fill the part-time Licensed Professional Counselor position based in Harrisonburg. This position has the possibility of expanding to full-time.
The Counselor provides clinical assessment, individual and group therapy, and care coordination for participants with substance use, mental health, and co-occurring challenges, and provides clinical supervision to our Registered Peer Recovery Specialists. Services are delivered in person and via tele-health at our New Market and Harrisonburg offices and at Page County Jail through our reentry program.
Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical assessments and provide individual and group therapy using recovery-oriented, trauma-informed approaches
- Provide clinical supervision to Registered Peer Recovery Specialists, including sign-off on their progress notes and care plans
- Participate in care coordination with Peer Recovery Specialists and Case Management staff
- Support Medicaid billing compliance for therapy and peer recovery support services
- Deliver services at our New Market and Harrisonburg offices and at Page County Jail
Required Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted LPC licensure in Virginia
- Eligibility to enroll as a Virginia Medicaid provider
- Experience providing therapy for substance use and mental health disorders
- Genuine respect for peer support as a distinct discipline and comfort working within a peer-run organization
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel among program sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with justice-involved, homeless, and other vulnerable populations
- Experience providing clinical supervision
- Experience with Peer Recovery Specialists or Recovery Community Organizations
- familiarity with Virginia Medicaid behavioral health billing
- Spanish language skills.
