Licensed Professional Counselor (Independent Contractor)

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Licensed Professional Counselor (Independent Contractor) to join our mental health team. Duties

• Conduct thorough clinical assessments and mental health evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards for accurate diagnosis and documentation
• Provide individual, couple, therapy sessions using modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA)
• Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety during acute episodes
• Deliver specialized counseling services including grief counseling, addiction counseling, PTSD care, gender issues counseling, and behavioral health support
• Utilize telehealth platforms for remote therapy sessions while maintaining HIPAA compliance and clinical documentation standards
• Develop comprehensive treatment plans aligned with clinical guidelines and patient needs; document progress in electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management efforts for clients with co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities
• Engage in research activities to stay current with evidence-based practices; incorporate ICD coding into medical documentation for billing accuracy
• Support clients through intake processes, patient assessments, social work interventions, and medical terminology understanding as needed

Experience

• Proven experience working with adults in outpatient or inpatient settings with a focus on mental health counseling
• Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, behavioral therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and evidence-based practices
• Prior experience conducting mental health assessments using ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems; familiarity with CPT coding is a plus
• Strong background in crisis intervention, crisis management, behavior management, and case management within behavioral health environments
• Knowledge of telehealth therapy platforms ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations; experience delivering remote services effectively
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for clinical documentation; ability to maintain accurate medical records following clinical documentation standards
• Ability to work effectively within clinical ethical guidelines while providing client-centered care in diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics
