The PROUD (Parents Recovering from Opioid Use Disorder) Counselor provides clinical and case management services to pregnant and parenting women with active substance use concerns or a history of substance use disorders, including opioid use disorder. The PROUD Counselor is responsible for providing clinical services as a member of the DMHAS REACH (Recovery, Engagement, Access, Coaching & Healing) system of care.

They will be embedded within the REACH teams to provide clinical services including: evaluation, assessment, care coordination, individual, group or family therapy and discharge planning to clients as appropriate. They will also provide clinical support and consultation to other members of the REACH team.

Major Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, individual, group, and family therapy, care coordination, crisis intervention, and discharge planning.

• Monitor client progress, coordinate referrals, and collaborate with behavioral health, medical, dental, and community providers to ensure integrated care.

• Serve as a clinical resource to staff by providing consultation, guidance, crisis support, and promoting evidence-based, trauma-informed practices.

• Support program operations through participation in referrals, admissions, discharges, quality improvement initiatives, and required reporting.

• Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, families, community partners, and stakeholders to support positive outcomes.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, confidentiality, and documentation requirements, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.

• Demonstrate commitment to culturally responsive, family-centered care, with sensitivity to the needs of pregnant and parenting women and families.

• Travel as required to provide community-based services, attend meetings, trainings, and other program-related activities.

• Prepare associated monthly and quarterly reports as needed.

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies including but not limited to State Department of Public Health, State Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and CARF.

• The Counselor performs related duties as assigned.

Supervision Received: This position is directly responsible to the Waterbury Outpatient Program Director.

Supervision Exercised: The PROUD Clinician supervises individual staff members as appropriate.

Qualifications

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work with a complex interdisciplinary team. Knowledge and skills related to individual, group, and family system dynamics.

Education and Licensure

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.
• Independent clinical licensure in Connecticut preferred (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LADC), or licensure/license eligibility as one of the following:
• LMSW, LCSW
• LMFTA, LMFT
• LPCA, LPC

Knowledge and Skills

• Experience working with individuals affected by substance use disorders, particularly pregnant and parenting women, required.

• Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment, recovery support services, trauma-informed care, and behavioral health systems. Understanding of the needs of pregnant and parenting women and families.
• Strong organizational, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and community-based systems.

· Must have a valid Connecticut driver’s license and daily access to a car.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
