Are you an experienced licensed therapist looking for the independence and flexibility of private practice without having to build a practice completely on your own?

SM Psychotherapy & Counseling Services (SMP) is seeking dependable, ethical, motivated, and experienced independently licensed mental health clinicians to join our growing Hartford team.

This is a hybrid 1099 independent contractor opportunity combining in-person services at our Hartford, Connecticut office with telehealth.

We are looking for clinicians who value professional independence while also understanding the importance of reliability, accountability, consistency, and excellent client care.

This opportunity is ideal for an independently licensed clinician who wants greater flexibility in their professional schedule, enjoys working in a private-practice environment, and wants to develop a consistent caseload within an established behavioral health organization.

Eligible Connecticut Licenses

Applicants must hold an active Connecticut independent clinical license as one of the following:

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
• Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

Position Type-1099 Independent Contractor

Compensation-Starting at $60+ per clinical hour.

Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, clinical specialty, services provided, and other applicable factors.

Hybrid Schedule

Clinicians will provide a combination of:

• In-person psychotherapy at our Hartford, Connecticut office
• Telehealth psychotherapy

Clinicians have flexibility when developing their schedules based on client demand, practice needs, office availability, and the clinician's professional availability.

While schedules are flexible, we place significant importance on consistency.

Once clinicians establish their availability and accept clients, they are expected to maintain their committed schedules and provide clients with consistent continuity of care.

Clinical Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

• Provide individual, couples, family, child, adolescent, and/or adult psychotherapy within the clinician's scope of competence
• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments
• Diagnose mental health conditions using DSM-5-TR criteria
• Develop individualized and measurable treatment plans
• Provide evidence-based and clinically appropriate psychotherapy interventions
• Monitor client progress and modify treatment approaches when clinically indicated
• Maintain a consistent clinical caseload
• Maintain established appointment availability
• Complete progress notes and required clinical documentation within SMP documentation requirements
• Complete assessments, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and other required documentation
• Maintain timely and professional communication with clients
• Coordinate care with psychiatric providers, physicians, schools, family members, and other professionals when clinically appropriate and authorized
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and client confidentiality
• Follow mandated reporting requirements
• Follow established crisis and emergency procedures
• Maintain appropriate professional and therapeutic boundaries
• Participate in clinical consultation and practice meetings when appropriate
• Follow applicable SMP clinical and administrative policies
• Maintain an active professional license and required continuing education

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• Master's degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or another qualifying behavioral health discipline
• Active Connecticut Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license in good standing
• Experience providing behavioral health or psychotherapy services
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
• Strong psychotherapy and treatment-planning skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Ability to maintain professional and ethical boundaries
• Ability to provide both in-person and telehealth services
• Reliable transportation for scheduled Hartford office hours
• Appropriate professional liability coverage as required
