About the role
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to provide comprehensive mental health services within a multidisciplinary clinical setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in evidence-based therapeutic practices, including psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma-focused therapy. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in clients' lives by delivering individualized treatment plans, crisis intervention, and supportive counseling across diverse populations. The counselor will work collaboratively with healthcare teams to promote mental wellness, resilience, and recovery.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments and clinical evaluations utilizing ICD-10 coding standards to accurately diagnose and develop tailored treatment plans.
- Implement evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, addiction counseling, and behavior management strategies to address a wide range of mental health conditions.
- Engage in crisis management and intervention to support clients experiencing acute psychological distress or suicidal ideation, ensuring safety and stabilization.
- Maintain detailed clinical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations, clinical documentation standards, and medical records protocols within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Collaborate with medical professionals on medication management when applicable, integrating psychopharmacology insights into holistic care approaches.
- Facilitate intake assessments for new clients to gather comprehensive patient histories and determine appropriate treatment pathways.
- Participate in ongoing clinical research and case management activities to enhance therapeutic outcomes and stay current with industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (e.g., LMHC, LCPC) with active state certification or license in good standing.
- Proven experience providing psychotherapy, clinical counseling, or behavioral health services in outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Strong knowledge of ICD coding /ICD-10), medical terminology, and documentation standards aligned with clinical ethical guidelines.
- This is a 1099 job with potential to make 80k to 100k annually
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to manage crisis situations effectively while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
- Familiarity with research methodologies relevant to mental health assessment and treatment planning; knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes is advantageous.
