Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments and clinical evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to accurately diagnose and develop personalized treatment plans.
• Deliver individual, group, family, and child/youth therapy sessions using modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and behavioral therapy.
• Implement crisis intervention strategies and manage urgent situations with professionalism and sensitivity to ensure client safety and well-being.
• Utilize telehealth platforms for remote counseling sessions, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical documentation standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers—to coordinate comprehensive care plans for clients with co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities.
• Maintain meticulous medical records and documentation in electronic health records (EHR/EMR), adhering to clinical ethical guidelines and legal requirements.
• Engage in ongoing research and professional development to stay current with evidence-based practices, ICD coding updates, and advancements in mental health treatment.

Requirements

• Valid state licensure as a Mental Health Counselor or equivalent credential.
• Proven experience working with children, adolescents, or individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
• Strong skills in psychotherapy techniques including motivational interviewing, grief counseling, addiction counseling, art therapy, dance therapy, and psychopharmacology when applicable.
• Familiarity with crisis management protocols, behavior management strategies, trauma-informed care (including PTSD care), and special education considerations.
• Experience working in outpatient clinics, inpatient settings, or hospital environments is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in clinical documentation standards, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical terminology.
• Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to develop effective treatment planning tailored to individual needs.
• Knowledge of telehealth therapy platforms and experience providing remote mental health services while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Strong communication skills for client engagement and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
