Licensed Mental Health Clinician

The Center for Living and Learning (CLL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2001 and is a leader in Los Angeles County, primarily in the San Fernando Valley, in supporting individuals transitioning from incarceration, substance use treatment, homelessness, and other barriers to stability. CLL provides an array of services including employment support, case management, behavioral health support, interim housing, and permanent housing navigation to help individuals rebuild their lives and successfully reintegrate into the community.

CLL is seeking candidates for the full-time position of Licensed Mental Health Clinician. This position provides clinical support and guidance across the (1) Justice Care Management (JCM), (2) POWR Case Management, and (3) POWR Interim Housing programs. The incumbent works alongside program staff to navigate complex participant needs and strengthen care planning. The Licensed Clinician guides staff in responding to behavioral health and crisis situations while supporting consistent, high-quality services.

Job Summary

The Licensed Mental Health Clinician serves as a resource to staff through clinical consultation, case conferencing, documentation support, and guidance around participant care and service coordination. Across all three programs, the position helps staff apply participant-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches in their day-to-day work. Within JCM and POWR Case Management, the primary focus is supporting staff in managing their caseloads, reviewing documentation, and responding to complex situations. Within POWR Interim Housing, the Licensed Clinician also works directly with residents when additional clinical support, assessment, crisis intervention, de-escalation, or care coordination is needed. This position does not maintain a primary caseload or provide ongoing psychotherapy.

Essential Duties

• Provide clinical oversight, training and development, and consultation to staff regarding participant behavioral health needs, service planning, and crisis response.
• Facilitate individual and group supervision, case consultations, and multidisciplinary case conferencing.
• Conduct behavioral health assessments; develop individualized treatment plans; provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and stabilization services; and coordinate referrals and linkages to mental health, substance use, and community-based support services.
• Assist staff in managing complex participant situations, including behavioral health crises, substance use concerns, safety risks, conflict resolution, and psychiatric emergencies, including providing on-call clinical support as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health field, AND current California licensure as an LCSW, LMFT or LPCC
• Minimum two (2) years of experience providing behavioral health services, clinical supervision, or case consultation in homeless services, outreach and engagement strategies, intensive case management services, best practice models, crisis intervention, suicide assessment and prevention, affordable housing and public benefits applications, supportive housing, landlord/tenant rights, eviction prevention, reentry, and/or related settings.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, Housing First, harm reduction, crisis intervention, and behavioral health best practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Valid California driver’s license and insurable driving record under the agency’s liability policy required.

Preferred

• Experience working with individuals impacted by homelessness, mental health conditions, substance use disorders, trauma, and/or justice system involvement.
• Bilingual candidates and individuals with lived experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform work in both office and field-based settings, including sitting, standing, walking, and operating standard office equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to travel between office and program locations as required.

Pay: $83,000.00 - $95,500.00 per year
