Job Description
First Alliance Healthcare of Ohio provides comprehensive mental and behavioral health services to people in a community setting. The Independently Licensed Therapist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality clinical care, supporting client outcomes, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of clinical operations within the agency.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
The minimum education required for an Independently Licensed Therapist is a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related field, with an active and unrestricted LISW, LPCC, or equivalent independent license from the State of Ohio. Licensure must be valid and maintained in good standing.
Previous experience in a mental health clinic or similar setting is preferred. Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness is strongly preferred. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. A background check is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
First Alliance Healthcare of Ohio is a fast-paced working environment due to the high demand for services. The Independently Licensed Therapist will work full-time during regular business hours, based on the agency’s hours of operation.
The therapist is expected to provide services in-office, in the community, and via telehealth as needed, and may occasionally travel between agency locations (Cleveland, OH; Lorain, OH).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical (Direct Care)
Provide individual, group, and family therapy services in accordance with clinical best practices
Complete diagnostic assessments and establish appropriate diagnoses
Develop, implement, and regularly update Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs), safety plans, and discharge plans
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation, including progress notes completed within 24 hours of service
Provide crisis intervention services as needed
Coordinate care with internal team members and external providers
Participate in case consultations and team meetings
Clinical (Support/Collaboration)
Serve as a resource for QMHS staff and dependent licensed clinicians when appropriate
Collaborate with supervisors, psychiatric providers, and other team members to ensure quality client care
Participate in clinical staff meetings and training opportunities
Support interns or trainees as directed by leadership
Administrative
Maintain client records in accordance with agency, state, and federal regulations
Ensure compliance with all documentation, billing, and productivity standards
Participate in required meetings, trainings, and agency initiatives
Maintain active communication with supervisors and leadership regarding client care and operational needs
SKILLS
The Independently Licensed Therapist should be punctual and maintain a professional demeanor and appearance. The individual must be friendly, courteous, and able to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
The therapist is expected to follow all policies of First Alliance Healthcare of Ohio, demonstrate strong clinical judgment, and maintain ethical standards in all areas of practice.
Strong communication, organization, and time management skills are required. The ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team is essential.
The therapist should be proficient with Mac and Windows systems, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, electronic health records, and telehealth platforms such as Zoom.
The therapist must have a strong understanding of evidence-based mental health treatment modalities, the ability to assess and respond to client needs effectively, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
