Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough client assessments to evaluate substance use history, mental health status, and co-occurring disorders using DSM-5 criteria and evidence-based practices.
• Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and other therapeutic modalities tailored to client needs.
• Facilitate individual, group, and family counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health stabilization, and relapse prevention.
• Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute behavioral health emergencies while maintaining client safety and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
• Maintain accurate, detailed clinical documentation including progress notes, treatment plans, medical records, and compliance with medical documentation standards using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts, ensuring seamless integration of home & community care services.
• Engage in ongoing research and data collection to monitor treatment outcomes and improve evidence-based practices within the program.

Requirements

• Valid state licensure as a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LADC) or equivalent certification.
• Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, including those with co-occurring mental health conditions such as PTSD or behavioral health issues.
• Strong knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, addiction medicine principles, and behavioral health interventions.
• Proficiency in clinical documentation standards, EMR/EHR management, CPT coding, and medical terminology.
• Skilled in crisis management techniques, client assessment in therapy settings, and applying behavioral therapy methods such as applied behavior analysis.
• Excellent communication skills for client engagement, case management coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration across diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments requiring crisis intervention and patient care under HIPAA regulations while maintaining patient confidentiality.
