About the role

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, licensed mental health professional to provide high-quality counseling services to older adults. The ideal candidate has experience supporting clients through life transitions, grief, cognitive and physical aging, caregiver stress, and mental health challenges common in later adulthood. However; geriatric experience is not required but preferred. This role focuses on strengthbased care and emphasizes dignity, autonomy, and respect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling – and perhaps group therapy - to senior citizens, using evidence-based therapeutic approaches (e.g., ACT, DBT).
  • Conduct intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Support clients through issues such as anxiety, depression, adjustment to illness, grief, cognitive changes, family dynamics, loneliness, and life transitions.
  • Collaborate and act as a liaison with family members, caregivers, physicians, or community agencies when appropriate and with client consent.
  • Monitor client progress, adjust therapeutic interventions as needed, and provide referrals for additional services.
  • Maintain compliance with all ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards.
  • Conduct community outreach to make older adults in Lisle Township aware of our Senior Counseling service.

Qualifications

*Education \& Experience:*

  • Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Current licensure in the State of Illinois: LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, or equivalent.
  • 5 or more years of experience.
  • Experience working with the geriatric population preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment.
  • Familiarity with community resources supporting older adults (a plus).
  • CPR/First Aid certification (preferred but not required).

*Work Environment \& Schedule:*

  • Part-time, 21 hours per week. This part-time position requires two days in-office (16 hours per week) at the Lisle Township Office conducting individual and group therapy, along with an additional 5 hours of remote work dedicated to writing session notes, planning sessions, updating treatment plans, and engaging in community outreach, totaling 21 hours per week.
  • Office space available within the Township Supervisor’s Office.
  • We serve those who cannot otherwise have access to counseling services. We will not charge our clients for sessions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform standard office tasks and attend off-site meetings
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds

Compensation

  • Commensurate with experience and licensure; but between 50-54k.
  • No benefits
