Job Summary/Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Counseling and Case Management Coordinator, the counselor is responsible for providing professional individual and group counseling within the program. The various duties and responsibilities of the Men’s Life Recovery Program Counselor are listed below under Responsibilities/Essential Functions.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Hold individual counseling sessions with assigned students in the Life Recovery Program.
- Hold group therapy sessions when needed.
- Inform Program Coordinator and support staff of any pertinent information concerning students, limited for the purpose of collaborative treatment planning.
- Prepare assigned paperwork in a timely and organized manner. (See paperwork schedule.)
- Be familiar or be willing to be trained in billing processes.
- Bill for all guests served in individual and group therapy sessions.
- Work harmoniously and cooperatively with coworkers to develop a positive team spirit that promotes professionalism and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Must understand and support the Mission Statement, philosophy, scope, vision, and practical activities associated with The Haven.
- Must demonstrate integrity and good moral character.
- Must demonstrate acceptable standards of ethical, professional practices, as outlined in the Michigan Ethical Codes.
- Must have a minimum Master’s degree in the counseling/therapist field or social work.
- Must be licensed by the State of Michigan in the field of counseling/social work. (LLPC, LPC, MSW).
- Must have advanced knowledge of substance abuse treatment and counseling therapy, and their applications.
- Must be able to work with sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Must be team oriented.
- Must be able to work with diverse populations.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
License/Certification:
- Michigan license (LLPC, LPC or MSW) (Required)
Pay: From $36.75 per hour
