Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC or LPC-Associate)

Garcia’s Family Wellness, PLLC is seeking motivated, compassionate, and dependable Licensed Professional Counselors and LPC-Associates to join our growing behavioral health team in Rio Grande City, Texas. Bilingual counselors who can provide services in English and Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is a full-time position designed for counselors who want to develop meaningful clinical experience, serve diverse populations, and grow professionally within a supportive outpatient behavioral health environment.

We recognize that the LPC-Associate stage is an important transition from graduate education to independent clinical practice. Our goal is to provide Associates with the structure, supervision, clinical opportunities, and professional support needed to become confident and competent clinicians.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting pay of $18–$22 per hour for LPC-Associates, based on experience and qualifications

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

• Provide individual counseling services to assigned patients.
• Provide counseling to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families within the counselor’s training, competency, and scope of practice.
• Conduct clinical intake assessments and diagnostic interviews.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable clinical goals.
• Establish and maintain an appropriate ongoing clinical caseload.
• Complete progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, and other required documentation accurately and within established timelines.
• Use evidence-based counseling interventions appropriate to each patient’s needs.
• Monitor symptoms, treatment progress, risk factors, and clinical outcomes.
• Participate actively in required clinical supervision and consultation.
• Present cases for clinical review and appropriately incorporate supervisory feedback.
• Coordinate care with physicians, psychiatrists, schools, case managers, and other professionals when clinically appropriate and properly authorized.
• Maintain professional boundaries, patient confidentiality, and appropriate clinical records.
• Follow all applicable ethical, professional, regulatory, HIPAA, licensure, and organizational requirements.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development activities.
• Maintain reliable attendance and a consistent weekly clinical schedule.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

• Possess a master’s degree or higher in counseling or another qualifying educational program for Texas LPC or LPC-Associate licensure.
• Hold an active Texas LPC or LPC-Associate license in good standing or be in the final stages of obtaining LPC-Associate licensure.
• Have completed the applicable national examination requirements for Texas LPC licensure.
• Be able to pass required local, state, and federal background checks.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Be receptive to clinical supervision, consultation, and constructive feedback.
• Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, sound judgment, and ethical decision-making.
• Possess strong clinical documentation and organizational skills or demonstrate a willingness to develop them.
• Be comfortable working independently while remaining part of a collaborative behavioral health team.
• Demonstrate compassion and professionalism when serving individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

Applicants licensed as an LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, or LMFT-Associate may also apply and will be considered individually. Clinical supervision is provided only for LPC-Associates and graduate counseling interns. Bilingual English- and Spanish-speaking applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Clinical Supervision

Board-approved LPC supervision is included as part of this employment opportunity for LPC-Associates. Associates receive regularly scheduled supervision from an in-house, doctoral-level LPC-Supervisor while employed and practicing under the applicable supervisory agreement.

Supervision addresses areas such as:

• Clinical case conceptualization
• Counseling theories, techniques, and interventions
• Diagnosis and clinical assessment
• Treatment planning

• Clinical documentation
• Risk assessment and management
• Professional identity development
• Licensure preparation and career development

Associates remain responsible for maintaining an active license in good standing and ensuring that all licensure requirements and supervised experience hours are properly completed, documented, and submitted.

Schedule Requirements

Garcia’s Family Wellness operates Monday through Saturday. Counselors establish consistent schedules based on clinic needs, patient demand, and counselor availability.

This position requires:

• Consistent full-time availability
• At least one evening of availability each week
• One required Saturday shift per month, scheduled in place of one regular weekday shift
• This position has dedicated time for clinical documentation
• No on-call responsibilities

Schedules may include daytime, afternoon, and evening appointments. Some afternoon and evening availability is necessary because these appointment times are especially important for children, adolescents, working adults, and families.

Clinical Population

Our practice serves a diverse outpatient behavioral health population across the lifespan. Counselors may have opportunities to work with:

Presenting concerns may include anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, ADHD-related concerns, adjustment difficulties, trauma-related symptoms, parenting challenges, family and relationship concerns, and other outpatient behavioral health needs within the counselor’s scope of practice and competency.
