Job Summary
The Mental Health Technician plays a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This position involves providing compassionate care, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring a safe environment for patients. The technician will work closely with healthcare professionals to implement treatment plans and monitor patient progress, contributing to the overall well-being of those in their care.
Duties
- Follow Care Plans
- Monitor patient behavior and report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Document medical records accurately and maintain up-to-date medical documentation.
- Support psychopharmacology management by ensuring patients take prescribed medications as directed.
- Implement behavior management techniques to promote positive interactions and coping strategies.
- Participate in therapeutic activities and group sessions to enhance patient engagement.
- Conduct research on best practices in behavioral health to improve patient care strategies.
- Facilitate telehealth sessions when necessary, ensuring technology is functioning properly for remote consultations.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, and nurses, to provide comprehensive care.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe clinic environment for both staff and patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in mental health or related fields is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disorders is a plus.
- Familiarity with medical documentation processes and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology principles and behavioral health practices.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their mental health outcomes.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the facility's needs.
