Overview

Join our dynamic behavioral health team as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, where your expertise will empower individuals on their journey to recovery. In this vital role, you will deliver evidence-based addiction counseling using a compassionate, client-centered approach. Your work will involve conducting comprehensive client assessments, developing personalized treatment plans, and providing both individual and group therapy sessions. You will play a key part in fostering a supportive environment that promotes healing, resilience, and long-term wellness for diverse populations struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Duties

• Conduct thorough intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing client assessments utilizing DSM-5 criteria and ICD coding standards.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health management, trauma resolution including PTSD care, and family or child counseling when appropriate.
• Manage crisis intervention situations with professionalism and urgency, ensuring safety and stabilization for clients experiencing acute distress or behavioral crises.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, medical documentation standards, EMR/EHR systems, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and other medical records protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts, discharge planning, home & community care initiatives, and support services tailored to client needs.
• Engage in ongoing research and data collection to monitor treatment outcomes, improve clinical practices, and ensure adherence to evidence-based standards of behavioral health care.

Qualifications

• Licensure as required by state law (e.g., LCDC).
• Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions within clinical settings such as hospitals or community clinics.
• Strong knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and clinical documentation standards.
• Proficiency in therapeutic modalities including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral management techniques, and crisis management strategies.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as EMR platforms; ability to maintain detailed medical records while respecting patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills for client assessment in therapy settings; experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds is highly valued.
• Ability to handle crisis situations effectively while demonstrating compassion and professionalism; experience in home & community care environments is a plus.

Pay: $18.00 - $27.00 per hour
