Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC)

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and experienced Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) to join our outpatient substance abuse treatment services in San Antonio, Texas.

The LCDC will provide substance use disorder counseling and support to individuals working toward recovery. This position is responsible for conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, providing individual and group counseling, documenting client progress, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary treatment team.

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about helping individuals overcome addiction, understands the recovery process, and can establish positive, therapeutic relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments and identify clients' treatment and recovery needs.
• Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans.
• Provide individual, group, and educational counseling related to substance use and recovery.
• Facilitate evidence-based recovery and psychoeducational groups.
• Utilize motivational interviewing, relapse-prevention strategies, and other appropriate counseling techniques.
• Monitor client progress and make appropriate recommendations regarding treatment goals and services.
• Identify relapse risks and assist clients in developing coping skills and recovery strategies.
• Provide crisis intervention and respond appropriately to behavioral or clinical concerns.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation, including progress notes, assessments, and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with medical, behavioral health, case management, and other treatment team members.
• Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate referrals and community resources as appropriate.
• Educate clients and families regarding substance use disorders, recovery, relapse prevention, and available support services.
• Maintain professional boundaries and protect client confidentiality.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, quality-improvement activities, and continuing education.

QualificationsRequired

• Current Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) license in the State of Texas in good standing.
• Experience providing substance use disorder counseling preferred.
• Knowledge of substance use disorders, addiction, recovery, relapse prevention, and co-occurring behavioral health conditions.
• Ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Must be able to pass required background screening and other pre-employment requirements.

Preferred

• 1+ years of experience in substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, residential treatment, outpatient treatment, or a related setting.
• Experience facilitating individual and group counseling.
• Experience with treatment planning and clinical documentation.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing.
• Experience working with clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Experience working in a residential treatment environment.
