About the role
Centered, PLLC is seeking a fully licensed Art Therapist to provide group art therapy services at El Paso State Hospital in El Paso, Texas.
This is a part-time, 1099 independent contractor position providing approximately 14 hours of on-site services per week at $65 per hour.
The Art Therapist will plan and facilitate structured therapeutic art groups for individuals receiving inpatient behavioral health services. The clinician will use art therapy interventions to support emotional expression, coping skills, self-awareness, interpersonal functioning, and overall mental wellness.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and facilitate clinically appropriate individual and group art therapy interventions
- Use art therapy techniques based on patient needs, treatment goals, and clinical presentation
- Create a safe, supportive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive therapeutic environment
- Complete required clinical documentation accurately and within established timeframes
- Collaborate with hospital staff and other behavioral health professionals as appropriate
- Maintain professional boundaries and comply with ethical, clinical, and facility standards
- Maintain a dependable and consistent weekly schedule
- Complete all required credentialing, background checks, orientation, and facility onboarding requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in Art Therapy or a closely related mental health field from an accredited institution
- Current, unrestricted Texas mental health license with independent practice authority required, such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent
- Must be a qualified Art Therapist with formal education, training, and clinical experience in Art Therapy
- Art therapy credential such as ATR, ATR-BC, or equivalent professional art therapy credential strongly preferred
- Experience facilitating art therapy groups in a clinical, behavioral health, hospital, or community setting
- Experience working with individuals with complex mental and behavioral health needs preferred
- Strong communication, clinical documentation, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health environment
- Commitment to ethical, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and inclusive clinical practice

Important: Applicants must be both fully independently licensed in Texas and qualified to provide art therapy services. Applicants seeking associate-level licensure or those without formal art therapy training or credentials will not be considered.
Pay: $60.00 - $75.00 per hour
