MJA Behavioral Health and Wellness is a growing mental health and wellness practice dedicated to providing holistic, compassionate, and evidence-based care. With offices in both Shelton and Fairfield, CT, we offer an integrated approach to mental health, supporting individuals navigating substance use, co-occurring disorders, and general wellness goals. We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) to join our multidisciplinary team and help expand our addiction treatment and recovery services.

Job Summary

As an LADC at our practice, you will provide comprehensive clinical services to clients struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Operating within a wellness-focused framework, you will conduct evaluations, facilitate individual and group therapy, and design personalized treatment plans. You will collaborate closely with our team of therapists, psychiatric providers, and wellness practitioners to offer seamless, integrative care.

Core Responsibilities

• Clinical Assessment: Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and risk screenings for new and existing clients.
• Individual & Group Counseling: Deliver high-quality, evidence-based therapy (e.g., CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing) tailored to addiction recovery and relapse prevention.
• Treatment Planning: Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans in collaboration with the client.
• Dual-Diagnosis Care: Address co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, coordinating closely with internal psychiatric and mental health providers.
• Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate clinical support and crisis management for clients experiencing acute distress or relapse risks.
• Case Management & Referrals: Coordinate care with external medical professionals, families, or intensive outpatient programs when a higher level of care is required.
• Documentation: Maintain precise, timely, and confidential electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, and practice policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Licensure: Must hold an active, unrestricted license as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in the state of Connecticut. (Dual licensure as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPC is a major plus).
• Education: Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience specializing in addiction counseling and substance use disorders. Experience in a private practice or outpatient wellness setting is highly desirable.
• Skills: Proficient in dual-diagnosis treatment, crisis intervention, and modern EHR systems. Strong cultural competency and excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 2 evenings and/or weekend work in person
• Must maintain a minimum caseload of 15 billed clients per week.

Pay: $40.00 - $65.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 25.0 per week
