Licensed Addiction Counselor

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Addiction Counselor to join our behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide expert addiction counseling and individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your energetic approach will help empower clients on their journey to recovery, utilizing evidence-based practices and a client-centered philosophy. You will conduct comprehensive assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions. Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough client assessments to evaluate substance use, mental health status, and co-occurring disorders using DSM-5 guidelines and clinical documentation standards.
• Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and evidence-based practices tailored to each client’s needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR/EHR management) in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and CPT coding
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, and community agencies to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
• Experience
• Valid state licensure as an Addiction Counselor or equivalent credential
• Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, including co-occurring mental health conditions such as PTSD or behavioral health issues.
• Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and applied behavior analysis.
• Strong understanding of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and working knowledge of electronic health record systems (EHR).
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines AND 42 CFR Part 2.
• This position does involve some evening group work but is flexible in that regard.
