Duties

  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and behavioral therapy tailored for older adults.
  • Implement crisis management strategies and crisis intervention techniques to support patients experiencing acute mental health episodes or emergencies.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with clinical documentation standards, including progress notes, medical records, and treatment planning documentation.
  • Facilitate telehealth therapy sessions while maintaining HIPAA compliance and ensuring secure electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) documentation.
  • Engage in case management activities to coordinate care with healthcare providers, social workers, and family members for comprehensive patient support.
  • Utilize research skills to stay current with best practices in geriatric mental health care, including addiction counseling, PTSD care, and co-occurring disorders management.

Experience

  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or equivalent licensure with valid certification to practice independently in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated experience working with older adults in outpatient or inpatient environments, including hospital experience preferred.
  • Proven expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, grief counseling, and behavior management techniques.
  • Familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis documentation and billing processes.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder is highly desirable.
  • Strong skills in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and managing co-occurring disorders within diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with telehealth platforms, EMR/EHR systems, and clinical documentation standards necessary for effective patient care delivery.
