Full-Time Associate Therapist (School-Based)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Full Time Associate Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic services to clients in two of Spartanburg County’s public schools in the Upstate region of South Carolina. The Full Time Associate Therapist works under the supervision of an LMFT-S or LPC-S and within their licensure while providing these services. This position is set to begin August 24th, 2026.
This is a five-year grant funded position (2023-2028) in partnership with Spartanburg Academic Movement and their Full-Service Community Schools project.
PAY AND BENEFITS TRANSPERANCY
- This position offers an annual salary range of $53,000-$55,000
- 9% healthcare stipend

- Professional development and training in the field of Play Therapy
EDUCATION
- Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (preferred), Counseling, or related field
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two years of clinical experience
- Experience and interest in the field of Play Therapy
- Must embrace the mission of EMERGE Family Therapy Center & Teaching Clinic
- Must participate or have participated in play therapy training as well as parent/child relationship training
- Strong therapeutic skills
- Strong ethics and values that support the mission of Emerge
- Must be able to work collaboratively
- Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals
- Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability
ACTUAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES
- Provide therapeutic services to children ages 4-10 in assigned Spartanburg County District 7 elementary schools
- Maintain a full-time client caseload of at least 20-25 client hours/week at each school.
- Work in a team setting with other therapists
- Provide resources to parents/caregivers and families as needed
- Prioritize family engagement in the therapeutic process
- Work closely with all school faculty, administration through the provision of services
- One hour weekly of dyadic (individual) supervision
- Two hours per month of group supervision
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as directed in the EMERGE Handbook
- Maintain clinical files in alignment with EMERGE standards {based on State Statutes}
- Administrative facilitation of day-to-day requirements of Clinical work
- Demonstrate professional and ethical conduct at all times
ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend in person monthly organizational meetings (two hours/per month)
- Maintain communication with Clients, EMERGE Staff, and Supervisor.
- Attend all PDI-related functions as required by PDI contract and standards.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
