Contract Licensed Therapist- LCSW, LMFT, CSW Intern, MFT Intern - This is an contract position that reports directly to the Clinical Director
Position Summary
Licensed Therapist (LCSW, LMFT, CSW Intern, MFT Intern) provides evidence-based, trauma-informed mental health services to clients. The Therapist is part of a multi-disciplinary team that serves an urban area with a high volume of cases of abuse. She or he must manage a heavy workload of complex cases, and must regularly and professionally communicate in person, in large meetings, through case files, or in court setting.
Job Duties
- Utilizes standardized assessments to determine frequency and severity of trauma;
- Determines symptoms that a client may be experiencing related to trauma;
- Evaluates effectiveness of interventions provided;
- Uses standardized assessments of clients and families to strengthen family understanding of client and communicate family role in reducing or limiting client symptoms;
- Utilizes trauma-informed, evidence-based clinical interventions to promote healing and safety of the client;
- Proactively engages family in the treatment of the client to promote enhanced attachment, decreased symptoms, and improved safety;
- Regularly and professionally communicates in person, in large meetings, through case files, and in court;
- Maintains case files in a timely manner, including session case notes, treatment plans, telephone consultations, referrals, and disposition.
- Provides expert testimony of fact for the Clark County criminal and civil courts that pertain to Mental Health Program cases.
- Conducts on-going communication with Center employees and volunteers;
- Participates in scheduled case staff meetings, treatment team meetings, Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings, and occasional special staff meetings;
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, assessment, counseling, theory and ethics;
- Provides consultation and regular communication with Child Protective Services, law enforcement offices and police departments, District Attorney's Office, and other social service agencies and therapists directly involved with Mental Health Program cases;
- Complies with all Therapy Program Policies and Procedures;
- Maintains current licensure and/or certification and group affiliations; and
- Works the bulk of work hours during non-school hours, in order to serve children who are in school.
Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience
- At least a Master's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Counseling, Counseling, or similar discipline. Further education and additional training is desirable.
- Expertise in the highly specialized field of trauma and child abuse.
- At least three years of related work experience with individual counseling and/or family interventions.
- Able to work effectively in a team setting.
- Must be certified and licensed as a , LCSW, LMFT, CSW Intern, MFT Intern, in the State of Nevada, and maintain that certification and licensure throughout contract. Must be certified for Medicare and Medicaid payment and reimbursement.
- Must have basic proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Must provide one weekend 3 times a year of crisis on call service
- Estimated income is $75,000 to $90,000
- The organization will handle all Billing and Scheduling.
Preferred Characteristics
- In addition to fluency in English, fluency in another of the more commonly encountered languages used in Clark County, Nevada - such as Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, or others - is desirable.
- Experience in the area of child abuse, trauma or related children's issues is preferred
- Experience with child abuse interventions, CPS, Law Enforcement and District Attorneys preferred.
- A special need for afternoon hours, in person, and those working with youth.
