About Maplewood Counseling

Maplewood Counseling is a small, close-knit private practice based in Maplewood, NJ, focused primarily on couples and individual therapy, with some family work as well. We're a private-pay practice - we don't work in-network with insurance - which lets our clinicians focus on the work itself. We believe good outcomes come from consistency and genuine connection, with clients and with each other as a team.

About the Role

This is a hybrid role - in-person on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with telehealth available for both you and your clients the rest of the week. Building a full caseload takes time, and we don't expect that on day one: most clinicians build up to a steady 10-15 clients per week gradually, as trust and referrals grow. You'll be the dependable in-person option during the week, complementing the rest of our team's weekend and virtual coverage, with room to grow your hours (including a possible Saturday afternoon in-person block) as your caseload builds.

What You'll Do

• Provide in-person couples and individual therapy sessions (occasional family sessions too) Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3-9pm, at our Maplewood office

• Offer telehealth sessions on other days, a hybrid option available to you and your clients as your caseload grows toward 10-15 clients per week

• Build and maintain a consistent, steady caseload through thoughtful follow-up and client care

• Collaborate with our supervising and associate clinicians on client transitions and coverage

• Keep timely, HIPAA-compliant clinical documentation

• Optionally, add an in-person Saturday afternoon block down the line if it's a fit for you

What We're Looking For - Required

• Active NJ licensure in good standing (LMFT, LCSW, LSW, LPC, or LAMFT - associate-level licenses considered with an approved supervision plan)

• Experience with couples and individual therapy (family experience a plus)

• Able to reliably commit to in-person hours Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3-9pm

• A warm, consistent, client-centered approach - someone who follows through and stays engaged with their caseload

Preferred (nice to have)

• Experience specifically with couples work

• Availability to add an in-person Saturday afternoon block in the future

Compensation

$55-$110 per session, based on experience and licensure level.
