About Us
New Hope Children's Advocacy Center is a child-focused, trauma-informed, safe place in Blount County, Tennessee, serving children and their non-offending families who have experienced abuse or trauma.
At New Hope, a multi-disciplinary team works collaboratively to provide a coordinated response to allegations of child abuse. Services that we provide include advocacy, forensic interviews, medical exams, and therapy services provided in one location. Our approach ensures that children share their experience in a developmentally appropriate, supportive setting, reducing the risk of re-traumatization.
Fourteen staff members, partners from the Department of Children's Services, and local law enforcement are all co-located at New Hope, making casework as efficient as possible.
Job Summary
The Clinical Therapist will serve children and their non-offending caregivers through the New Hope Clinical Services Program. This position will work as a member of the clinical team as well as the Child Protective Investigative Team, CPIT.
Duties
Implement the established policies, procedures, and practices which assure that the welfare of the children we serve is our priority.
Ensure that the therapeutic environment and setting assures that the physical, social, and emotional needs of the children we service are being met to the best of our ability
Provision of direct and indirect services to children and their non-offending caregivers including but not limited to:
- Crisis Counseling
- Assessment and Evaluation of counseling needs
- Treatment plan development with individualized goals and objectives
- Provision of individual, family, and group therapy services utilizing best practice, trauma-focused, modalities such as TF-CBT, EMDR, DBT, SMART, TraumaPlay, etc.
- Consultation with CPIT members
- Referrals for other services and resources as necessary
Participate in any legal/judicial proceedings as may be required by court order or subpoena.
Maintain clinical records in accordance with the State of Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Outpatient Facility and Licensure Board, as well as New Hope policy and procedures maintaining adherence with the National Children's Alliance recommended practice model.
Provision of training and education to other CPIT members, professionals, lay groups in the 5th Judicial District.
Collect data, prepare, and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as well as any special reports regarding the Clinical Services Program that may be required.
Attend all staff meetings, in-service training, peer review, and other job-related conferences, workshops, and professional meetings as may be required to maintain and further licensure.
Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director and/or Chief Operating Officer
Requirements
A licensed Mental Health Professional is preferred, although a candidate working towards licensure may be considered.
Applicant must have completed their master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, or a related degree AND possess two (2) years of clinical practice specifically geared to working with children and families impacted by trauma in the provision of individual and family therapy.
Excellent verbal and written communication is required in English
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required
Clean criminal background check, drug screen, and professional / personal references will be completed prior to employment.
