Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Clinical Counselor specializing in Substance Use Treatment to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health and addiction counseling services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and related behavioral health challenges. Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling as appropriate.
• Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups for clients receiving substance use treatment services.
• Complete clinical assessments, screenings, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, and discharge planning.
• Develop individualized, measurable treatment goals based on client needs.
• Complete progress notes and other required clinical documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
• Monitor client progress and make appropriate clinical recommendations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and case consultations.
• Identify changes in client functioning, risk, or level-of-care needs and communicate concerns to clinical leadership.
• Assist clients with developing relapse-prevention strategies, coping skills, recovery supports, and healthy decision-making skills.
• Coordinate care with outside providers, community resources, and referral sources when appropriate.
• Maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality.
• Follow HIPAA requirements and all applicable federal, state, Medicaid, DBHDS,
• and organizational policies.
• Maintain accurate and complete electronic health records.
• Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings, trainings, and quality-improvement activities.
• Perform other clinically appropriate duties as assigned.

Candidates should possess a master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.

Qualified candidates may include individuals who hold or are pursuing appropriate Virginia credentials, including:

• LPC
• LPC-Resident
• LCSW
• Supervisee in Social Work
• LMFT
• Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy
• Other qualified behavioral health professionals whose education, credentials, and scope of practice meet program and regulatory requirements

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders.
• Experience providing group and individual counseling.
• Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and substance use levels of care.
• Experience working in an IOP, PHP, outpatient, residential, or behavioral health setting.
• Knowledge of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Experience completing clinical documentation in an electronic health record.
• Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centered care.
• Familiarity with Virginia Medicaid and DBHDS requirements is a plus.

Pay: $25.00 - $32.02 per hour
