Position Summary

Release It Counseling is seeking a dependable Christian Clinical Therapist (W-2 employee) to provide a combination of in-person and telehealth counseling services within a structured, growth-oriented practice environment.

In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive psychotherapy and counseling services rooted in Christian principles to individuals, children, families, and groups. Your expertise will help clients navigate mental health challenges, trauma, grief, and co-occurring disorders while integrating faith-based approaches. Duties

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments, including intake evaluations and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards.
• Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, behavioral therapy, and Christian counseling techniques.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, medical records standards, and clinical ethical guidelines.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management, patient care coordination, and medical documentation standards to ensure holistic treatment approaches..

Skills

• Extensive experience in psychotherapy techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, grief counseling, addiction counseling, and social work practices.
• Proficiency in motivational interviewing to foster client engagement and promote positive behavioral change.
• Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), medical terminology, EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation and data collection.
• Ability to conduct mental health assessments.
• Familiarity with clinical research methods to support evidence-based practice improvements; understanding of medical records management aligned with HIPAA regulations.

Compensation-This is a W-2, fee-for-service position. Compensation is paid per completed, billable session and is commensurate with experience and licensure. Clinicians should be prepared to actively grow into the position as referrals and caseloads develop progressively over time. Caseloads are not guaranteed immediately upon hire.

• Starting compensation: $30 per completed session
• Compensation is commensurate with experience and licensure.
• Compensation is tied to completed sessions and timely documentation.

Schedule & Availability Expectations

• Monday – Friday {9:00 AM – 5:00 PM}
• No weekends allowed unless fully licensed
• Clinicians must maintain availability consistent with supporting an active caseload of approximately 18–20 sessions per week as referrals develop.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage & Family Therapy
• Active, unrestricted Virginia license as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT/ OR Active Resident in Counseling or Supervisee in Social Work status in Virginia
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills
• Commitment to ethical, high-quality, faith-informed clinical practice
• Ability to work independently while respecting organizational structure, leadership, and accountability expectations
