Child & Adolescent Therapist / Clinical Supervisor (LPCC/LISW)

The Child & Adolescent Therapist / Clinical Supervisor provides high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families in an outpatient setting.

This position may be filled as either a Child & Adolescent Therapist or Clinical Supervisor, depending on the candidate’s licensure, supervisory credentials, experience, and leadership background.

The Child & Adolescent Therapist is responsible for conducting clinical assessments, establishing diagnoses, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing developmentally appropriate individual, family, and group therapy.

The Clinical Supervisor performs these clinical functions while also providing clinical leadership, consultation, and supervision to behavioral health clinicians serving children, adolescents, and families.

Services are delivered using a child-centered, family-focused, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach, with an emphasis on supporting the emotional, behavioral, developmental, and social needs of youth and their families.

REPORTS TO: Clinical Director, Behavioral Health Director, or Designee

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESClinical Responsibilities – Both Roles

• Conduct comprehensive behavioral health, psychosocial, and diagnostic assessments for children and adolescents
• Assess emotional, behavioral, developmental, family, school, and environmental factors impacting functioning
• Establish appropriate behavioral health diagnoses within scope of licensure
• Develop, implement, review, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, parents/caregivers, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy to children and adolescents
• Engage parents, guardians, and caregivers as appropriate to support treatment goals and continuity of care
• Utilize developmentally appropriate, evidence-based treatment approaches, including CBT, DBT-informed interventions, motivational interviewing, family-based interventions, trauma-informed care, and other applicable behavioral health modalities
• Incorporate play-based, expressive, and age-appropriate therapeutic techniques when clinically appropriate
• Provide treatment and support for youth experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, family conflict, adjustment difficulties, school-related challenges, and other behavioral health needs
• Conduct risk assessments and provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals to higher levels of care when necessary
• Coordinate care with pediatric providers, schools, community agencies, child welfare organizations, psychiatric providers, and other members of the client’s care team as appropriate
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, treatment planning meetings, and care coordination
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the EHR in accordance with agency, Medicaid, OMHAS, and applicable regulatory standards
• Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards in compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and applicable professional requirements
• Participate in training, continuing education, clinical consultation, and quality improvement activities
• Comply with all agency policies, procedures, clinical protocols, and applicable state and federal regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES – CLINICAL SUPERVISOR

In addition to providing direct clinical services, the Clinical Supervisor will:

• Provide clinical supervision, consultation, and guidance to therapists and other behavioral health professionals serving children, adolescents, and families
• Provide individual and/or group clinical supervision in accordance with Ohio licensure and supervision requirements
• Review clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge plans, and other clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance
• Support clinicians with complex cases, crisis situations, risk assessments, treatment planning, and clinical decision-making
• Promote consistent use of evidence-based, trauma-informed, child-centered, and family-focused treatment approaches
• Monitor clinical quality, documentation standards, productivity expectations, and compliance with agency and payer requirements
• Coach and mentor clinical staff in the development of clinical skills and professional competencies
• Provide ongoing performance feedback and support to assigned clinical staff
• Facilitate clinical case conferences, team meetings, and interdisciplinary consultations
• Assist with onboarding, orientation, and training of new behavioral health clinicians
• Identify opportunities for clinical education, process improvement, and staff development
• Collaborate with leadership regarding program development, clinical workflows, quality improvement, and service delivery
• Support compliance with Medicaid, OMHAS, accreditation, agency, and professional licensing requirements
• Help maintain a supportive, collaborative, and clinically accountable team environment
• Maintain an appropriate direct-service caseload as determined by program needs and leadership

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSChild & Adolescent Therapist

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field
• Active, unrestricted independent behavioral health license in the State of Ohio
• Experience providing behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and/or families
• Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, family systems, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based behavioral health treatment
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, treatment planning, and psychotherapy skills
• Ability to effectively engage children, adolescents, parents, and caregivers
• Excellent clinical documentation, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to respond appropriately to behavioral health crises and safety concerns
• Reliable transportation and ability to meet agency driving and insurability requirements
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification

Clinical Supervisor

Must meet all Child & Adolescent Therapist qualifications, plus:

• Appropriate Ohio licensure and supervisory designation/credentials required to provide clinical supervision
• Demonstrated experience providing behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and families
• Prior clinical supervision, leadership, mentoring, or program oversight experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of clinical documentation, Medicaid requirements, behavioral health regulations, and quality standards
• Ability to provide clinical guidance on complex cases, crisis situations, risk management, and treatment planning
• Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and team-development skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience specializing in child and adolescent behavioral health
• Experience providing family therapy and caregiver support
• Training or experience in trauma-focused treatment approaches
• Experience with CBT, TF-CBT, DBT-informed treatment, play-based interventions, family systems, or other evidence-based pediatric behavioral health modalities
• Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns in adolescents
• Experience working with youth involved with schools, foster care, child welfare, juvenile justice, or other community systems
• Familiarity with Medicaid billing and behavioral health documentation requirements
• Experience in community mental health, integrated behavioral health, pediatric care, or FQHC settings
• Previous clinical supervision or behavioral health leadership experience for supervisor candidates
