Locomotive Service, Inc. (LSI) is hiring a DAY SHIFT CDL-A Locomotive Fuel & Service Technician at the BNSF Logistics Park Chicago (LPC) location in Elwood, IL.

You'll work locally inside the railroad operation, fueling and servicing locomotives instead of spending your day fighting highway traffic, chasing miles, or waiting for the next load.

You come to work, take care of the locomotives, work with your team, and go home at the end of your shift.

The Job

• Location: BNSF Logistics Park Chicago (LPC) – Elwood, IL
• Shift: DAY SHIFT
• Position: Full-Time
• Work: Direct-to-locomotive fueling and locomotive servicing

This position combines two important LSI operations.

• You'll be trained to safely fuel locomotives and perform routine locomotive servicing activities needed to keep railroad operations moving.
• That gives you more variety during the day and more skills you can build over time.

What You'll Do – Locomotive Fueling

• Fuel BNSF locomotives safely and efficiently
• Operate specialized fueling equipment
• Complete DVIR inspections and equipment checks
• Maintain accurate fuel and inventory records
• Reload fueling equipment as needed
• Communicate with railroad personnel and LSI supervisors
• Follow DOT, FRA, environmental, railroad, and LSI safety procedures
• Respond appropriately to fueling-related situations

What You'll Do – Locomotive Servicing

Depending on operational needs and your training, servicing duties may include:

• Locomotive engine oil service
• Cooling water service
• Compressor oil service
• Traction sand
• Cab supply restocking
• Cab and window cleaning
• Headlight, ditch light, and step-light replacement
• Brake shoe replacement
• Air brake testing
• FRA daily inspection support
• Septic/toilet sanitary servicing
• Maintaining service-material inventories
• Accurately documenting completed work

Don't know how to service a locomotive?

That's okay.

LSI provides the training.

We're looking for someone who already knows how to be a safe, professional CDL driver. We'll teach you the railroad side of the job.

What We're Looking For

• We want dependable CDL-A drivers who enjoy straightforward work but still take their responsibilities seriously.

Minimum requirements

• Must be at least 25 years old
• Minimum one year of verifiable commercial driving experience
• Valid CDL-A license
• Tanker and HazMat (X) endorsements required at time of hire
• Manual transmission (stick shift) driving ability required
• Current DOT Medical Certification
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
• Must pass required DOT/FRA drug screening
• Must meet railroad and Homeland Security background requirements
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to safely climb steps and ladders
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain accurate records and inventories
• Strong safety mindset
• Professional communication skills
