Job Overview

Clay Counseling is seeking a compassionate, culturally responsive Associate Therapist to join our community-based behavioral health team. This position is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about supporting individuals and families from diverse cultural, racial, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The successful candidate will demonstrate cultural humility, respect for each client’s lived experience, and the ability to adapt treatment approaches to meet clients’ individual needs. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those who can provide therapy in Spanish or another language commonly spoken within the communities we serve.

Candidates must be available to work Saturdays and weekday evening hours, Monday through Friday.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution
  • Active registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an AMFT, ACSW, or APCC
  • Eligible to receive clinical supervision in accordance with California BBS requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving culturally diverse, historically underserved, and marginalized communities
  • Understanding of how culture, identity, language, family systems, and community experiences can influence mental health and treatment
  • Ability to provide affirming, respectful, and culturally responsive services
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, documentation, and communication skills
  • Availability to work Saturdays and weekday evenings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual or multilingual, with the ability to provide clinical services in Spanish or another community language
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, or families from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience providing trauma-informed and culturally responsive behavioral health services
  • Familiarity with community-based mental health programs and underserved populations

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual, family, couples, or group therapy using evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches
  • Incorporate each client’s cultural background, values, language, identity, and lived experience into treatment planning and service delivery
  • Provide services that are respectful, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of diverse individuals and families
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency, payer, ethical, and legal standards
  • Collaborate with clinical supervisors and interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive and coordinated care
  • Participate in case consultation, clinical supervision, professional development, and required training
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, community partners, and team members
  • Support outreach, psychoeducation, community engagement, and the development of culturally and linguistically relevant wellness materials as needed
