About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Associate or Licensed Therapist (LMFT, AMFT, LPCC, APCC) with a minimum 1 year of post-graduate clinical experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality mental health counseling and support to individuals, families, and couples. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions tailored to the unique needs of clients. The therapist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support.

Novara Counseling is a growing group practice in San Diego dedicated to helping couples, adults, teens, and families build stronger relationships and emotional resilience. We use evidence-based, relational approaches including the Gottman Method, CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care to support meaningful change.

Duties

  • Conduct individual therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and the Gottman Method.
  • Perform patient assessments to evaluate mental health status and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies and provide crisis management support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including intake forms, progress notes, and treatment plans.
  • Participate in weekly clinical supervision (for associates) or case consultation (for licensed clinicians) to support professional growth and high-quality client care.
  • Collaborate closely with the Novara clinician team - including supervisors, and other therapists - to foster a supportive and connected group practice culture,
  • Coordinate with outside providers and community resources when appropriate to ensure continuity of care.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Hold a master's degree or higher in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from a BBS-approved program.
  • Registered or licensed in California as an AMFT, APCC, LMFT, or LPCC (in good standing with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences)
  • Minimum 1 year of post-graduate clinical experience required.
  • Proficient in providing individual, couples, and family therapy using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT or the Gottman Method.
  • Experience working with children or teens in a clinical setting is preferred; comfort supporting a range of ages is a plus.
  • Training in trauma-focused therapy and/or EMDR is highly valued but not required.
  • Strong skills in maintaining clinical documentation and compliance with HIPPA standards.
  • Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working as part of a supportive clinical team with regular supervision and consultation.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and professional therapeutic presence.

Pay: $40.00 - $75.00 per hour
