Associate Clinical Therapist

Position Summary

The Associate Clinical Therapist provides direct clinical services to adult clients with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders enrolled in PHP and IOP levels of care. This role includes facilitating group therapy, conducting individual sessions, completing clinical documentation, and contributing to treatment planning. Services are delivered via telehealth under appropriate clinical supervision in accordance with Colorado regulations.

Core Responsibilities

• Clinical Service Delivery

a. Facilitate structured group therapy sessions for PHP and IOP clients

b. Provide individual therapy sessions as clinically indicated

c. Deliver evidence-based interventions appropriate for co-occurring SUD and MH disorders (e.g., CBT, DBT, MI)

d. Maintain therapeutic rapport and engagement in a virtual care setting

• Assessment & Treatment Planning

a. Assist in completing biopsychosocial assessments and clinical evaluations

b. Contribute to development and ongoing updates of individualized treatment plans

c. Identify client needs, risk factors, and appropriate level-of-care recommendations

• Documentation & Compliance

a. Complete all clinical documentation in a timely and compliant manner within the EHR (e.g., Kipu)

b. Document group and individual sessions, progress notes, and treatment plan updates

c. Adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2

d. Maintain documentation standards consistent with Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) requirements

• Care Coordination

a. Collaborate with case managers, medical providers, and admissions staff to ensure continuity of care

b. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings

c. Support discharge planning and transition to appropriate levels of care

• Crisis Intervention

a. Identify and respond to clinical crises in accordance with program protocols

b. Coordinate with clinical leadership and emergency resources when necessary

c. Maintain awareness of client location during telehealth sessions for safety purposes

• Supervision & Professional Development

a. Participate in regular clinical supervision as required for licensure

b. Maintain progress toward independent licensure in the state of Colorado

c. Complete required trainings and continuing education

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field
• Active or eligible for a Colorado associate-level license, such as:

a. Licensed Social Worker (LSW)

b. Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC)

c. Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate (MFTC)

• Experience working with SUD and/or co-occurring populations (preferred)
• Ability to deliver services via telehealth platforms

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in PHP, IOP, or higher levels of care
• Training in evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing)
• Familiarity with group therapy facilitation in virtual settings
• Experience with Kipu or similar EHR systems

Work Environment & Expectations

• Fully remote, telehealth-based role
• Must maintain a HIPAA-compliant private workspace and secure internet connection
• Standard business hours aligned with program schedule (PHP/IOP groups)
• Ability to manage caseload and documentation within required timeframes

• Adherence to all Colorado Behavioral Health policies and procedures
• Compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
• Successful completion of background checks and credential verification
• Maintenance of active licensure status and supervision requirements

Pay: $80.00 - $100.00 per hour
